2006 THALIA CIVIC LEAGUE SCHOLARSHIP


BACKGROUND: The Thalia Civic League has been an active part of the Thalia community for nearly 40 years.  Through this scholarship award, it is the intent of the Civic League to encourage and reward high school students for their continued participation in neighborhood and citywide civic/community activities.

PURPOSE: To provide financial assistance to students who have lived in and have been a part of the Thalia community and who are pursuing an established degree program at an accredited college.
 
ELIGIBILITY:
        1) Applicants must show a direct connection to the Thalia neighborhood/Civic League, by merit of residency in the “Thalia” neighborhoods.

        2) Applicants must be graduating high school seniors this school year (2006/2007) and must be full-time students at an accredited college for the upcoming 2006/2007 academic year.

        3) Applicants must complete the required application, must provide letters of reference from a current teacher or appropriate faculty member and an adult not related to the applicant, and must submit an original essay, as defined below.

AWARD: The Thalia Civic League will award $2000.00 in scholarships.

SCHEDULE: Application packages must be received not later than May 15, 2006.
